Magic of Homemade Waffles: A Simple Recipe for Delight
Waffles, like pancakes, have their admirers and those less keen on their taste. Some love them soaked in syrup or adorned with nuts, ice cream, and chocolate sauce. Whether at breakfast, lunch, or even dessert for dinner (let’s ignore the wild combos for now), these treats evoke different cravings for different folks
The Recipe That Never Fails
This particular recipe holds a special place, originating from my days in a bustling kitchen. We reserved one day each month for Waffle Day celebrations, adorning these golden, grid-patterned wonders with chocolate sauce, fresh strawberries, billowy whipped cream, and a generous drizzle of syrup. Personally, I prefer my waffles with a darker, crispy texture, but some prefer them with a lighter, golden appearance. You have the freedom to decide! However, a word of caution: this recipe tends to puff up significantly due to the whipped eggs and baking powder. So, take it easy with the batter until you get the hang of it. And don’t forget, plenty of non-stick cooking spray is your best friend!
Ingredients You’ll Need-
2 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 heaped tablespoon sugar
1 cup melted butter
4 cups milk
How to Make It
Separate and Whip: Divide the egg yolks from the whites. Whip the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
Mix Dry and Wet: In a separate bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Mix the egg yolks, melted butter, and milk until smooth, then gently fold in the dry ingredients. Whisk vigorously until smooth. If lumps persist, strain the mixture through a sieve.
Fold In the Fluff: Carefully fold the whipped egg whites into the mixture using a figure-eight motion. Avoid being too rough to keep the air in the egg whites. Let the mixture rest for 15 to 30 minutes.
